Eyeborg Project

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

At some point in the Ithaca Times interview I mention the lovely and talented Mr. Rob Spence from the Eyeborg Project.

Rob is a photographer who lost an eye and is working with engineer Kosta Grammatis to replace the eye with a camera. It isn’t “wet-wired” but it’s really, really badass and he has been on pretty much every talk show and news program in the past six months.

I did a remix of the Canadian Rock band Chilliwack hit from 1982 for the Eyeborg Phase II video and you bet you can check it out in this post or on Eyeborgproject.com. Love the terminator red LED eye! How’s that for technology?

much digital love,

FeaturedPlaylist, Ithaca Times interview, Yes Yes Yall…

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

so the fine peoples over at cdbaby tagged my “Sarge Shukar Rough” album for a featured playlist on the homepage. The playlist is called “The Final Frontier” and I believe it has some tie in to the great hype of the new Star Trek movie. Its pretty funny cause the description of my album starts off with “While most musicians claim they herald from Outer Space, Elijah B Torn is not an episode of Star Trek”! Pretty cool that technology can work in my favor that way! Plus its playlist 33 which is a pretty rad number.

Also- I had a freaking blast playing with Hans Blix last week and in Ithaca last weekend. The ‘BLix rules and we played three tunes together. David Ezra Brown and Dj Laiki killed it real nice and got the Ithacans dancing! I got to bring out my midi controlled dinosaur for the first time too! Really enjoyed rocking the MIDI_EXP! You can read my full interview in the Ithaca times on their arts blog Popcorn Youth right here. Pictures and hopefully video to follow soon!

Also- someone just pointed out to me that Don’t Cry its only Sarge was a song of the day on Yes Yes Yall… some time back, awesome! click here

First Boards Award Winner!

Sunday, April 12th, 2009

On Thursday April the Second in the Year Two-Thousand and Nine, it was writ and entered into the annals of history that I won a composer award in the 10th Annual First Boards Awards for my work with MassiveMusic!

The First Boards Awards “celebrates the international industry’s top emerging talent from a series of categories including director, editor, composer, designer, animator and agency producer”. The event is hosted by Boards Magazine which is the leading industry publication about the international business of commercial production. Its read monthly by over 13,000 agency producers, creatives, production and post-production company executives, artisans, reps and I have an interview and profile in the April issue! You can read or download that here. The other finalists are some awesomely badass peoples including Director Nima Nourizadeh (Flight of the Conchords, ADIDAS House Party commercial(which MassiveMusic also did the licensing for), Trish Sie (who directed the Ok Go music videos on the treadmills) and a ton of other amazing Editors, Animators, and Graphic Artists! I am flattered and honored to be included in this group! (you can check out all the winners here).

A huge thank you to Boards Magazine, all of the judges, MassiveMusic and to YOU for reading this!

(a very thankful)
